Natural beauty products are all the rage at the moment, and rightly so. With so many of the ingredients being better for your skin and for the environment, it’s no wonder that more and more people are looking into making their own at home. Although these products can be more expensive initially, they pay for themselves by being better for you, and generally lasting longer.
Here are some recipes for making natural beauty products from home.
Facial moisturiser and Face masks for the soul
Indulge in some me-time and pamper yourself with a luxury face mask. All you need is hot and cold water and some honey. First, wash your face thoroughly to ensure there is no makeup left. Then hold a hot flannel over your face, or take a hot shower to open up the pores on your face. Once you have done this, take some honey and let it sit on your face for up to half an hour. After this time, rinse your face of the honey and splash with cold water to close the pores back up. Honey will plump up the skin and leave it feeling soft and moisturised.
Natural exfoliator body scrub
Body scrubs are an essential part of any beauty routine, natural exfoliator and regular scrubs will leave your skin glowing and baby-soft. To make a natural body scrub, combine 1 cup of brown sugar with 1 cup of olive oil and an eighth of a cup of honey. You can also add a few drops of essential oils if you desire a certain smell. Mix these ingredients to form a paste and massage into your skin as needed. Great for the skin, great for the environment as you’re not washing harmful beads down the drain.
Best Organic skin care products for your lips – Lip Balm
In the cold weather, lips can become chapped so easily. Luckily, you can create your own lip balm at home, so no need to keep splashing out on tubs of Vaseline. All you need is grated beeswax, cocoa butter, coconut oil and almond oil. Mix these natural skin care products together over a low heat and once all the ingredients have combined, let it cool and harden. Then you are ready to go. Pour into smaller containers for handy on-the-go purse size balms.
Hand cream and Natural moisturiser
Similar to lips, hands can often become dry and cracked in the cold weather. To keep them soft and moisturised, all you need to do is combine hand soap and sugar. Mix until it becomes a thick paste and store in an empty jar. When you want to use, simply apply a small amount of olive oil to the hand and massage it in, followed by this hand wash. Rinse off and dry thoroughly and you will have silky soft hands. Use in conjunction with your favourite hand cream for an extra soft finish for your very own natural moisturiser
Either treat someone else with a natural beauty product this Christmas, or treat yourself whenever and feel lovely and pampered, all while doing your bit for the environment!
